I remember using fruit as a stamp as a kid. It's been done several times for art projects on tea towels, tote bags, t-shirts, etc. Today we'll be exploring what its like to create a statement wall with fruit!

supplies:
Apples - or fruit(s) of your choice (I'm considering adding strawberries or maybe lemons)
Paint - the paint you decide to use will depend on what kind of surface you're applying your stamp to.
Paint brushes
Tarp or some other protective sheet to protect your surfaces from being covered in paint.
Let's get started!
First I cleaned my walls, they weren't really too bad except for the little bit by my stove where things tend to splash up and go unnoticed until you're stamping your wall.
Next I chose my paint colors, I went with just acrylic paint because It's what I had on hand and it's water-based and can be scrubbed right off which was important to me incase I hated how this turned out. Spoiler: I didn't!

Choosing colors was super easy because I am obsessed with the color pink lately and I wanted the kitchen to be cohesive to the rest of the house and what I plan to do with it all.
The green was thrown in to make it appear more apple-y and less weird heart-ish shapes on my wall. I also used a navy blue for the occasional stem and seeds on a few of them.

The only thing I don't love about that wall right now is the door. I painted it blue about two years ago and it wasn't what I wanted from the beginning but I didn't feel like repainting it. So it's been blue ever since. I'll be painting it again in the next few weeks and adding it to my super cheap kitchen make over post.
Next I cut the apple in half and started stamping on a sheet of paper to be sure I knew how much paint and pressure I needed to apply each time to get the look I was going for.
This step is especially important if you choose a paint that doesn't just wash away. No one wants a funky looking stamp on their fun statement wall!
Next the fun begins! Stamping the wall was a lot of fun and it took almost no time.
But it was a little messy! (Which is why I wore my DIY apron to help protect my sweet overalls)

I would suggest starting with one color first and then adding your second or third after each color if finished so you can get a good look at how you want it to balance out but I am so not a patient person and I wanted to see it all together so I kept going back and forth.
I did however stand back after every couple of stamps to see where I needed to add some or start making them further apart.
After the first set of stamps was finished I took my different shades of pink and green and went over a few of my stamps, not all, to add some depth to them and make them a little more interesting.
Finally I took a tiny brush and painted on the stems and seeds on various apples but again not all to make it a little more clear that they are indeed apples and not poorly shaped hearts.
That was it! I managed to finish the whole wall while Wren was napping and I am loving it so far!
Up next you'll see the backsplash and the refrigerator updates!
